Last weekend I was in Melbourne at the 11th Herbal & Naturopathic International Conference, hosted by the NHAA, where I was interviewed by Andrew Whitfield-Cook from FX Medicine, about my research on olive leaf extracts.
My research, which focused on profiling and comparing the chemistry of various olive leaf extract products on the Australian market, demonstrated that there is substantial variation between products. In short, there is a lack of phytoequivalence, which makes it difficult for practitioners in prescribing olive leaf extracts to their patients.
In my interview with Andrew we discuss the history of olive leaf as a medicine, some of the controversies, and the results of my research, and particularly what that means for herbal and naturopathic clinicians.
